Morning Scoop: Trillion-dollar tax bill faces new hurdles
MASSIVE TAX PLAN FACES NEW UNCERTAINTY
A 1.5 trillion dollar tax bill put together by Republican lawmakers is facing a new hurdle after Senator Marco Rubio of Florida said he would vote no on the bill unless it included a greater expansion of the child tax credit.
The New York Times reports that lawmakers are also facing “continuing questions about how the bill will be paid for and how much of the benefits will flow to low- and middle-income people versus corporations.”
Senate and House lawmakers had agreed on a merged version of their tax bills earlier this week and hoped to vote and have a bill ready for President Trump to sign by Christmas.
